  1. Best Madrid hotels
  2. I'm looking for a good 4* or 5* in central Madrid - ideally close to restaurants, bars and a subway. Any advice?

    Hi Barney,

    You could try these places:

    1) Hospes Madrid: impressive views over the Alcala Gate and the Retiro Park. Hospes Madrid now houses a welcome combination of elegance, exclusivity, architecture, fine cuisine and well-being, along with easy access to the intense economic, cultural and artistic activity of the capital city.

    2) Casa de Madrid: Near the Opera and Plaza de Isabel II, the Casa de Madrid is in a great location. From the outside it is hard to recognise as a hotel and it’s easy to walk by without noticing it.

    3) Hotel Vincci Madrid Centrum: Very central, just a few minutes from Puerta de Sol.

    4) Intercontinental Castellana Madrid: Conveniently located on the Paseo de Castellana, very close to Gregorio Marañon metro too.

Hope this is of some help to you.

You could also try the Palacio del Retiro. Meant to be lovely. Five-star service, a parkside location, a rated modern restaurant and elegant interiors, with hardwood floors and high ceilings.
